What a course involves
A prescription-strength acid is applied for a controlled time and neutralised, removing the outer layer of skin and prompting it to regenerate. Strength is stepped up across the three sessions rather than starting high — the patch test at the consultation sets the starting point.
Expect three to five days of flaking after each session, more like a mild sunburn peeling than anything dramatic, and plan around it. Most people book Friday appointments. Sunscreen at SPF50 daily for the whole course is not optional; skipping it on a peeled face causes exactly the pigmentation you came in to treat.
It works well on sun damage, uneven pigmentation, dullness and fine texture. It does not treat deep lines, laxity or active cystic acne, and darker skin types need a more cautious protocol — all of which is what the consultation establishes before you commit £480.
Common questions
You can, with disciplined SPF50 and no sunbathing for the duration. Autumn and winter are easier and give better results, and we will usually suggest waiting rather than take the booking in July.
Deeper skin tones carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and need a gentler protocol with pre-treatment. That is precisely what the patch test and consultation are for, and we will decline where the risk is not worth the gain.
Yes, but not on the same day. We space peels and injectables by at least two weeks in either direction so that any reaction can be attributed to one thing rather than guessed at.
