Placed by Dr Adam Rowntree, who has been restoring implants since 2007 and placing them since 2011. Every case is planned on a CBCT scan merged with an intraoral scan, and placed through a printed surgical guide — so the position is decided on a screen days before it is decided in your mouth.
What it costs
Prices include the planning scan, the surgical guide, the implant, the abutment and the final crown. Bone grafting, where it is needed, is quoted separately after the scan and is never a surprise on the day.
Single implant
One tooth, start to finish: consultation, CBCT scan, guided placement, three to four months of healing, then the crown. Six appointments over about five months.

Two implants carrying three or four teeth, where replacing each tooth individually would be both more expensive and harder to clean.

A fixed bridge on four implants replacing a full upper or lower jaw. Provisional teeth fitted the same day; the definitive bridge follows at four to six months.

Guided surgery, and what it changes
A dental implant is a screw in a jaw that also contains nerves, a sinus and the roots of the teeth either side. Freehand placement relies on the surgeon reading a two-dimensional x-ray and judging depth and angle by feel. Most implants placed that way are fine. The ones that are not are memorable.
We take a CBCT scan, which is a three-dimensional image of the bone, and merge it with a digital scan of your teeth. The implant is then positioned in software — angle, depth, how it will sit under the eventual crown — and a guide is 3D-printed that only allows the drill to go where the plan says.
Two practical consequences. The surgery is quicker and usually flapless, which means less swelling and a faster recovery. And because the implant is positioned for the crown rather than the crown improvised around the implant, the finished tooth is easier to clean, which is the single biggest predictor of whether it lasts.
Ten-year guarantee on the implant itself, and five years on the crown, provided you attend the hygiene appointments in your maintenance plan.
Common questions
Placement is done under local anaesthetic and most people describe it as easier than the extraction that preceded it. Expect two to three days of ache afterwards, manageable with ibuprofen. Sedation is available at £280 if you would rather not remember it.
Not at the front. Any implant in the smile line gets a temporary tooth fitted the same day. Back teeth are usually left to heal uncovered, because a temporary there interferes with healing more than it helps.
Age is not a factor — our oldest implant patient was 81. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, some bone medications and active gum disease all are, and we will tell you at the consultation rather than after you have paid a deposit.
