Same-day dentistry
Scanned, designed and milled here while you wait. One appointment of about two and a half hours instead of two visits a fortnight apart, no impression putty, and no temporary crown to come loose over a weekend.
The tooth is prepared as normal, which takes about forty minutes. Then an intraoral scanner records it — a wand, a few passes, no tray of setting material and no gagging. The crown is designed on screen while you have a coffee, and you can look at it before it is cut.
The milling unit takes twenty to thirty minutes for the ceramic, then it is stained, glazed and fired for another twenty. Fitting and adjusting the bite is the last twenty minutes. Most people bring a book; some go and do something else on Montpellier Parade and come back.
The honest limitation: this route suits back teeth and single units. A front tooth that has to match a natural neighbour is better made by hand at the laboratory over two weeks, and we will tell you when that is the case rather than sell you the convenience.
For a back tooth, yes — the ceramic is a single homogeneous block, which is actually stronger than layered porcelain. For a front tooth matching natural neighbours, a hand-layered laboratory crown wins on appearance.
The milling unit is at Harrogate. Wetherby has the scanner, so we can prepare and scan there and fit the crown at Harrogate, but the one-visit version happens on Montpellier Parade.
Come back and we adjust it, at no charge. A crown that is a fraction high is uncomfortable and will not settle by itself. Most adjustments take five minutes.

A crown covers a tooth that has too little of itself left to survive another filling. Ours are ceramic or zirconia depending on where the tooth sits, carry a five-year guarantee, and can usually be done in one visit.

Composite only. We have not placed an amalgam filling since 2018 — not on principle, but because bonded composite lets us keep more of the tooth, and how much tooth is left is what decides whether it needs a crown in fifteen years.
